While the medical emergency involving my mother is starting to calm and I finally have internet access at her house, I will still be away from my job for several more weeks.
Even though my leave from work is unpaid, my job is guaranteed to be available for me as long as it is less than 12 weeks total. For that, I would like to thank former president Bill Clinton for pushing for the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993. This is not political… I would be saying the same thing for a Republican president. This legislation right now feels like a godsend to me at a time when I feel like my life and career were unexpectedly thrown into a blender and set on purée. I have worked harder and under more stress in the past two weeks than at any point in my life that I can remember, and I am grateful to see what I hope is a light at the end of the tunnel instead of a train.
I am hoping to be able to jump back onto Remnants as soon as possible in order to restore some sort of normalcy to my life, even though I will still be separated from my wife for another month or so.
TL;DR. Sometimes life throws you curveballs. If you’ve gotten comfortable just sitting on the fastballs, they will scare the shit out of you.
